323 Madrasah students sat for the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) this year. According to a statement released by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), 98.5 percent or 318 students qualified to move on to secondary shool.

Primary 6 students from Madrasah Wak Tanjong Al-Islamiah (MWTI) are the first cohort from the school taking the exams since 2017 after three years it had failed to meet the PSLE benchmark set by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

58 students from MWTI took the exams, with 56 of them successfully managed to move on to secondary school.

Minister in charge of Malya and Muslim Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli Masagos Mohamed, in his note yesterday congratulated all students including Madrasah students who have worked hard despite facing challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“To all students, this is one of the many important achievements in education and in your life. I urge that you continue to pursue your passions and explore variety of paths to build your strengths,” he said

Also giving words of encouragement is Second Minister of Education, Dr Mohd Maliki Osman.

“Even though there are amongst you who might no meet your expectations, do not be sad. Continue your efforts because you still have a long way to go in your education journey amd many more opportunities to develop strengths and explore your passions in secondary school,” he said.
