About
Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah was built in 1927 by Syed Abdur Rahman bin Junied bin Umar bin Ali Aljunied. Madrasah Aljunied’s reputation is renowned locally and across the region. Amongst its alumni include many reputable religious leaders across Southeast Asia.
The Madrasah was rebuilt in 1995 and now houses a 5 storey building.
The madrasah envisions itself to bring forth intuitive scholars who possess the ability to adapt to the modern world without forgoing the essence of Islam. With its madrasah values of ITQAN, IHSAN and IKHLAS, the madrasah aspires its learners to internalised the knowledge learnt with the development of their character.
With that, the learners will then contribute back to the Muslim community through their khidmah (service).
Today the madrasah offers secondary and Pre-University level Ukhrawi track as well as International Baccalaureate (IB) and Singapore Cambridge GCE O Level programs for the students.

Achievements
In 2018, Madrasah Aljunied launched their IB Program. This program is for aspiring students who wish to take a more international route. This programme is offered to Secondary 2 students who have met the criteria for promotion to Secondary 3 Pre-IBDP programme. Students this program will not be required to sit for the GCE ‘O’ Level examination as it is an integrated programme that prepares them for the Azhar 2.0-IBDP programme at the pre-university level.
Madrasah Aljunied has constantly been successful at debates. In 2018, Madrasah Aljunied Debate team emerged as champions for 2 years straight in the national debate competition organised by ‘Bahas 4PM’. The best debater was also from Madrasah Aljunied. Their strength in debates shows how Madrasah Aljunied emphasized an importance to critical learning amongst their students.
A school for the community
The Madrasah emphasizes that community is the heart of its education and also rallied students, teachers and parents to donate and raise monies for selected communities who are affected by adversity.
